Welcome to East Lansing Threads – a local hot spot for this girl! Sitting right on the edge of Michigan State University’s beautiful campus, I have loved this boutique from the very start of my blog. Owned and operated by an East Lansing native like myself, Cory Quinn, gave up the corporate world to pursue his dream and connect with the East Lansing community. Cory reached out to me in the very early stages of MidwestCharmwithAnna.com. He asked if I would like to collaborate and the rest is history! I have an immense amount of gratitude for all of the support and encouragement East Lansing Threads (and Cory) have given me over the years. This boutique holds a special place in my heart as it was my first blog opportunity and is located in my hometown. Building a relationship with a local retailer has had such a positive impact on not only me, but also the growth of my blog. I love providing my local followers with opportunities to shop nearby and I love supporting my East Lansing community. East Lansing Threads has proved to be one of my favorite relationships to date and I love that this local shop has been on my side from the very beginning. I feel incredibly grateful to live in such an amazing community!
East Lansing Threads carries brands that range from Free People to Vineyard Vines. Michigan State lovers are in luck because tailgate gear is plentiful and look no further for fun accessories to go along with! A few other brands include: Kendra Scott, Smathers and Branson, Southern Tide, 7 for all Mankind, Splendid, DL1961, Simply Southern, Make Your Mrk and more. My favorite brand to see in store is Make Your Mrk, created by another East Lansing Native! Michael Kelly and his business partner created a clothing line that is, “As unique as the remarkable people who wear it. The premise of the company is to cultivate consumers’ individuality by encouraging them to make their mark on the world”. Check out their awesome Seersucker hoodies online, and of course, inside of East Lansing Threads. So fun to see community members support each other!
With all of that said, I am excited to encourage you all to mark your calendars for the I Buy Nearby Weekend. The annual weekend celebration of Buy Nearby will take place throughout Michigan on October 7 & 8, the first full weekend in October. On this weekend, there will be a social media contest for a chance to win a $500 Discover Card. Simply post a picture, buying nearby, with the contest hashtag #ibuynearbymi. Posts are welcome on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
As a proud Michigan girl and blogger, I want to thank you all for supporting Michigan Retailers. Cheers to the fun weekend to look forward to in October! I can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures from the #ibuynearbymi hashtag!
