I can hardly believe it, I have a PUPPY! I am so in love! I started thinking about a puppy back in June and connected with a breeder in west Michigan. After some back and forth, I came to the conclusion that the timing just wasn’t right and decided to forego a puppy at that time. Fast forward to January; the new year was well on it’s way, I was settled back into my apartment in Grand Rapids after traveling over the holidays and the time was right! I decided I was ready to consider a puppy again. I reached out to Sue, the breeder I had previously worked with, expecting for her to tell me that the next available litter would be ready in, at least, 8 weeks (most breeders keep the puppies with their moms for a few weeks after their birth, in this case, Sue keeps them for 8 weeks before letting them go to their future homes). As it turned out, Sue had a litter with a few puppies still available and they were ready to go! I talked with Sue on Saturday, met her (and Mac) on Sunday and decided I couldn’t go home without him! So, within 24 hours of deciding I was ready for a puppy, I had a puppy! Sue is the most amazing woman and I couldn’t have asked for a better experiencing in pursuit of a new little addition to my life. When I said yes to Mac, she said to me, “Sometimes the timing is just right!” and I couldn’t agree more. Every now and again the stars just align and you have to smirk, thank God and trust youre doing the right thing! In this case, I know I did the right thing! Mac has already been such a blessing in my life. He’s very social and has helped me meet people in the area, he gets me up and moving earlier than I used to (in a good way!) and he gets me out of the house more than I normally would considering the temperatures outside! He’s the best company and I feel so very lucky!

Why did I pursue an English Springer Spaniel?

Our love for English Springer Spaniels started with my Grandma. When I was little, she had a black and white English Springer Spaniel named Abby. We all loved her and enjoyed spending summers with Abby up north in Harbor Springs. When I was about six years old, my family added the most amazing addition to our immediate family! Her name was Daisy and she too, was an English Springer Spaniel. She was incredibly loving, had the sweetest temperament and made for the most amazing family dog. Daisy passed away a few weeks after my dad which was incredibly devastating. With that said, she lived a long, full life and stayed with us for as long as she was able. Mac will never replace our sweet Daisy, but rather, he will add new memories to the amazing ones I already have! Since my Grandma’s first English Springer Spaniel, we have added more dogs to our growing family. When Abby passed away of old age, my Grandma and Grandpa waited a short while before eventually introducing a new puppy into their lives. They kept calling the new puppy “Abby” so they decided to just name her “Abby 2” hahahah! From there, my sister and brother-in-law in law added a new puppy to their immediate family. They have a three year old English Springer Spaniel named Winnie. Mac is the latest addition and will fit right in. He can’t wait to meet all of his cousins and aunties! I have nothing but amazing things to say about this breed and highly recommend if you’re considering a puppy. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to message or email me. I am happy to pass along any information, including the name and number of the breeder I worked with.

Here are a few of my favorite “in the moment” captures of Mac that I pulled off of my iphone! From the day I picked him up, right up until today, scroll down to see more!
