Taking My Day to the Maxi

Hi everyone! I am excited to share this post for 2 reasons: 1) this maxi is less than $25 and I really love it & 2) these pictures reflect a smile that I had lost for most of the day; let me explain!

Have you ever woken up only to feel like you’re in a bad mood before the day has even started? This is tricky because I also believe that happiness is a choice. So then I spiral! I spiral because I want to choose happiness and am frustrated that I can’t seem to snap out of it! For those of you that have ever felt this way, I’m hoping you know what I’m talking about! It’s disheartening and discouraging and my hope is that you find inspiration in this post knowing you’re not alone!

My day started in the office and my mind was busy. Lots on the brain and lots to do and I could feel my mood slipping. I took a mental break and was scrolling through Instagram when I came across the sweetest post from Arienne, one of my blogging friends! I felt like she was speaking to me as I read her brief post. She talked about waking up and feeling defeated. She even touched on not knowing where the feeling comes from but being so aware that it’s feeding into your attitude and the way you treat others. I read thinking “me, me, me!”. She finished her post with a verse that I so badly needed to hear. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.”

I resumed my work with a smiling smirk thinking what a Godsend that was. I don’t believe it was irony, I believe it was God. After work, I raced off to Holland for a quick little meeting and was also able to meet up with my creative blog partner, Serena, also known as the gal that takes all of the amazing photos for Midwest Charm with Anna. It was then that I was able to finally smile! My chains had been broken and I was cheesing so hard that my cheeks hurt. Everyone has a happy place and mine just so happens to be Holland, Michigan! I find peace and joy and everything in between in that small little town and I am so grateful for the role it has played in my life. I drove home that night, refreshed and renewed, grateful that God spoke to me through the beauty of a place that I love so much. I was grateful for the reminder that sometimes we just have to step away. Step away from the chaos, the busyness and the stress and dig down deep to remember that life is SO good. I am incredibly blessed and I am thankful for all of the people and signs that helped me look beyond the cranky girl that woke up in a bad mood.

May we all choose happiness and turn to the Lord when we are struggling! Happy Thursday!

Xoxo, Anna
