Letting go of Grand Rapids and the life I had built there was filled with so many mixed emotions. I was overwhelmed at the thought of leaving an apartment that I loved, being further away from the friends I had just down the hall in my adult dorm, the city, the walks, the places I became familiar with. I knew I was moving to a place that I loved in a city that would allow me to grow, both personally and professionally yet my heart felt very torn! I wasn’t going far but it felt like I was moving a world a way from all that I had come to know. As I find my new routine here in Holland, make my new apartment feel like home and show Mackey his new stomping grounds, I am learning just how beautiful it can be to let things go. I’m learning to have gratitude for the past while keeping the memories of what was close. I loved my time in GR but sitting at the lake, with Mac in my lap, the crispy fall air and the future in front of us, I can’t help but feel filled with joy and excitement for what God has in store. Cheers to fall and a new season of life!
